That time of year

The most magical time of the year does bring challenges, the recent polar weather experience certainly seems to have set the scene even if it has been a little early. Although providing numerous challenges for many, the frost, light snow dusting and clear skies have been very pretty. During this time I have worn lingerie under thermal base layers, lined walking trousers, wool socks, jumpers, padded walking jacket and my favourite styled sub zero waterproof boots. Thick fleece backed tight were a must over stockings, under dresses and skirts, wool overcoat on top. All to be peeled off in front of woodburner stoves, or straight into bed to discover a thoughtfully placed hot water bottle. Thank you to everyone who has been so considerate and patient during this very cold snap, it's all been most appreciated.

Of course during this time I have been careful to check weather reports, allow plenty of time for the journey and refuse to travel anywhere that seems to be risky, thankfully my advance bookings were on main well-gritted routes so I did not have to let anyone down. I also had some further maintenance carried out on my vehicle, and placed a sleeping bag in the boot just incase. Thankfully the thaw is now here and I can wear a few less layers.

I am aware I need to write a blog about last month's London trip, but I need to dash I have to get ready for a commitment.

Warm wishes
